Financing for Development Reporting Post-2015

Expert Forum | Spreespeicher, Berlin, Germany | 1 November 2012

In November 2012, the Development Policy Forum organised an Expert Forum on the ODA reporting system of the future.

For countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Official Development Assistance (ODA) is currently the most important recognised benchmark for recording, monitoring and comparing the financial services involved in development cooperation. Since ODA commitments are set to expire in 2015, 50 experts from civil society, science and business took advantage of an opportunity offered by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and came together at the Spreespeicher in Berlin to discuss a measurement system for development cooperation after 2015.

The event was organised and run by the Development Policy Forum. It aimed to raise awareness of the need to reform ODA and gather and discuss initial ideas from non-governmental circles for a future system. The expert forum was a component of the BMZ’s comprehensive involvement in “financing for development reporting,” in which Germany wants to play a leading role at an international level by 2015.
