Legal notice on organisational status

GIZ is a German public-benefit limited liability company (GmbH). Its purpose is to promote international cooperation. GIZ’s Development Policy Forum is a discrete organisational unit within the company. It operates on a partly independent basis but has no separate legal personality.

Legal notice concerning liability for own content

As stipulated in Article 7, Section 1 of the German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz), GIZ as the content provider is liable under general legislation for the content that it makes available. This website has been compiled with the utmost care. Nevertheless, GIZ accepts no liability if the information provided is current, accurate, complete or error-free. GIZ cannot be held liable for any tangible or intangible damage that may be caused, directly or indirectly, through the use or non-use of the information provided or through the use of incorrect and incomplete information, provided no deliberate or gross negligence can be proven. GIZ reserves the right to modify, amend or delete the website in part or in whole without prior notice, or to discontinue publication temporarily or permanently.

Legal notice concerning links to external sites

This website contains links to external sites. Responsibility for the content of other sites linked to this website always lies with their respective providers. When the links to these sites were first posted, GIZ reviewed the external content in order to determine whether it could give rise to any civil or criminal responsibility. However, GIZ cannot reasonably be expected to continuously review the content of linked external sites without specific indications that a violation of the law may have been committed. If GIZ becomes aware or is notified by a third party that a linked external site gives rise to civil or criminal responsibility, then it will immediately remove the link in question. GIZ expressly distance itself from such content.

Legal notice concerning copyright

The layout of the home page, the graphics used and all other contents of GIZ’s website are protected by copyright law.

If GIZ makes any parts of its website available in languages other than German, this is merely intended as a service for GIZ employees and visitors who are unable to read the contents in German.

Data protection

The controller is the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 36 + 40, 53113 Bonn, Germany
Dag-Hammarskjöld-Weg 1–5, 65760 Eschborn, Germany

For statistical purposes and to improve our service, this website uses technology provided by Mamoto (formerly Piwik), an open-source web analytics software, which evaluates and then deletes data. No other use is made of the data, and the data are not passed on to third parties. Every time you visit the website of the Development Policy Forum of GIZ and every time you download a file, information about the activity is processed and stored in a temporary protocol file. Before it is stored, each dataset is rendered anonymous by altering the IP address.

The following information is stored for each page you view and each file you download:

  • technical details of the browser used
  • anonymous IP address
  • date and time
  • page opened/name of the file downloaded

Temporary session cookies are used each time you view an individual page to make navigation easier. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in your browser cache. Session cookies do not include any personal data and expire at the end of each session. We do not use methods such as Java applets or ActiveX controls that make it possible to track your browsing behaviour.

Data is processed on the basis of Article 6 (1 f) of the GDPR for the purpose of pursuing the controller’s legitimate interests, in this case to improve the website.

Retention of data

Personal data are regularly deleted when they are no longer needed for contractual purposes (e.g. for employment, top-ups, rental, sale or service contracts), when the individuals concerned have not given any separate authorization, when statutory data storage obligations and periods have expired.

Reference to user rights

You are entitled to:

  • to object to data processing
  • enquire about your personal data and its processing
  • to have this corrected if necessary, or to request restriction of processing or the erasure of the data

The data will then be erased.
If you have any questions or complaints about this website, please contact the GIZ data protection officer (see contact information provided above). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the responsible data protection supervisory authority. The responsible authority in this case is the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).
